Low-energy PET methanolysis and platform technology for chemical upcycling |
초록 |
Continuous accumulation of waste plastics in nature has caused several environmental problems. With recent global efforts to reduce plastic pollution, chemical recycling technology has gained increased attention as a feasible and promising strategy to achieve circular plastic economy. Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is one of the most popular thermoplastics which can be chemically converted into original monomeric building blocks by catalytic depolymerization. In this presentation, we will discuss a new chemical pathway utilizing an inexpensive catalyst to decompose PET into dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), which can be processed even without any thermal energies. Also, an upcycling strategy to promote DMT into several other valuable monomer derivatives will be addressed. |
