The fluorene-based π-conjugated polymers with side groups containing thiophene derivatives were synthesized by Suzuki polymerization for applications in polymer light-emitting diodes(PLEDs). Side groups of the polymer have hexyl thiophene moieties in both sides of the monomer and three different moieties such as diphenyl, dithiophene and diselenophene as a core of the monomer. The thermal properties of these polymers were measured by TGA and DSC, and optical properties were studied by UV, PL and EL. They exhibit different trends of optical properties depending on their core of the thiophene moieties. The light-emitting devices with configurations of ITO/PEDOT/polymer/Ca/Al were fabricated. In this presentation, we will discuss the relationship between properties and structure of the polymers containing heterocyclic moieties and the new application to other devices such as organic thin-film transistors and organic solar cells. |
