제목 Synthesis and size control of monodisperse silica particles A modified Stober’s method
초록 A modified Stober’s Method has been employed to improve the monodispersity of silica particles by adding Sodium p-Toluene Sulfate (SpTS), Sodium Styrene Sulfate (SSS) or Sodium Methacrylate (SMA) as a surfactant. The addition of one of these surfactants resulted in both higher monodispersity and bigger silica particles. Its size is mainly dependent on the amount of negative charges of anion groups and the double bonds in the surfactant. Zeta potential of silica particles when synthesized by this method exhibits a larger negative value compared with that of particles made without surfactants. Moreover, the reaction time was significantly reduced and yields of reactions increased comparing to usual Stober’s Method. Furthermore, it is much easy to control the size of particles from 150nm up to 900nm still with high monodispersity suitable for fabrication of colloidal crystals with good quality.
