Self-assembly of collagen fibers integrated with a functionalized Alginate |

In this study, we hypothesized that a collagen assembled with the improved structural integrity in dermis layer would regulate dermal fibroblasts activities to remodel, repair, and recreate skin dermis. This study examined the effects of alginate modified with acrylate groups on enhancing the structural integrity of the collagen assembly and further regulating the morphology, growth rates, and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) production of dermal fibroblasts. The enhanced structural integrity of the collagen hydrogel was dependent on the number of acrylates. Ultimately, the results of this study will be highly useful to develop the artificial skin. |
