Remotely Controlled Drug Release via Centripetal Rotation Using Adjustable Magnetic Chains |

Remotely controlled drug release has been recognized as one of the most promising research areas for biomedical applications. In this study, we use a superparamagnetic property without spontaneous magnetization and aggregated form, remotely controlled rotation towards its own magnetic direction can generate magnetic torque. This property has not yet been used to drug release systems because of technical difficulties to synthesize mesoporous superparamagnetic nanorods (MSPN). We compared cell death depends on the length of MSPN at the same magnetic strength, periodic magnetic field and loaded doxorubicin amount. Consequently, the longest MSPN triggers cell death easily, and these results demonstrate that we can control dose amount of drug by controlling length of MSPN. |
