제목 In vitro characterization and in vivo evaluation of catechin-eluting PLGA nanofiber membrane for application to anti-adhesion barrier
초록 Nanofibrous poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) hybrid membranes eluting epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG), a main polyphenolic component of green tea, were prepared via electrospinning and then characterized to evaluate their application potential to tissue-adhesion barriers. EGCG-eluting PLGA (E-PLGA) nanofiber membranes showed sustained EGCG release by controlled diffusion and PLGA degradation. The attachment and proliferation of L-929 fibroblastic cells were significantly suppressed on E-PLGA membranes. The anti-adhesion efficacy study revealed that after 2 wk of surgical treatment, tissue adhesion score of E-PLGA nanofiber membranes was noticeably lower than that of non-treated or other commercialized tissue-adhesion barriers. In conclusion, the E-PLGA membranes may be exploited to craft strategies for the prevention of post-surgical adhesion formation.
