제목 Toward Scalable Production of Single Crystal Graphene
초록 Graphene has been intensively studied since 2004 because of its incredible and unique physical, chemical, and electrical properties. The efficient production of single-crystal graphene (SCG) over a large-scale still remains a challenge toward for industrialization of various electronic, photonic, mechanical, and other devices based upon the outstanding properties of graphene. Here, I am going to introduce our strategies for the production of SCG via bottom-up and top-down approaches. At first, I will present a scalable growth of SCG through "transplanting” uniaxially aligned graphene “seedlings" on the larger-area catalytic growth substrate [1]. By inducing homo-epitaxial growth of graphene from the edges of the seed arrays without additional nucleations, we obtained SCG with an area four times larger than the mother graphene seed substrate. And then, I will introduce a layer-engineered exfoliation technique for graphene that allows us to obtain large-size monolayer SCG, up to a millimeter size [2]. By adjusting the interfacial toughness through the deposition of different metal films (Pd, Ni, Co) that have higher interfacial toughness than the Au film, large-area graphene with a controlled number of layers is also obtained.
