Synthesis of bactericidal super absorbent polymer (SAP) coated with novolacs |
| 초록 |
Super absorbent polymer is widely used as materials of sanitary pads and diapers which contact to body directly. Because of its uses, SAP should protect bacteria from the outside and remain as clear state. To improve property, SAP was coated with novolac which were known to have bactericidal property. Cardanol, cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), 3-pentadecylphenol (PDP) and 3-nonylphenol (NP) were used as novolacs. Coated SAP was characterized by Fourier Transfer – Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and the coating was confirmed. Water uptake test was conducted to check the uptake capacity of SAP. Bactericidal property was also measured and all SAPs showed good water uptake and bactericidal properties. |
