Ternary Blend All-Polymer Solar Cells: The Role of Miscible Polymer in the Crystallinity and Morphology Control |

In this paper, we fabricated ternary blend all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) that enhance 21.8% of power conversion efficiency (PCE) compared to binary blend all-polymer solar cells. The all-PSCs have some weak points caused by the strong tendency of enthalpy-driven phase separation between polymers and a narrow absorption region of solar spectra. To overcome these problems, we used poly(4,8-bis(5-(2-ethylhexyl)thiophen-2-yl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5b’]dithiophene) (PBDTT) as the additional donor, miscible with other polymers configuring binary all-PSCs. The three polymers used in ternary blend solar cells have a similar surface energy for the minimization of phase separation. As the addition of the PBDTT, our ternary blend solar cell showed enhanced performance. The maximum PCE was obtained from 40wt% addition of PBDTT, by the control of the weight ratios of PBDTT in the donor portion. |
