Controllable Polarity of Organic Field-Effect Transistors Based on Thienoisoindigo Copolymers |

Recently, copolymers based on conjugated donor-acceptor (D-A) strategies have been widely developed as organic semiconductors owing to its low-bandgap for high-performance field-effect transistors (FETs). Among these D-A systems, a thienoisoindigo (TIIG) unit has been intensively reported as the acceptor unit. By implanting thiophene into indigo unit, the molecular planarity improved through S⋯O interactions and charge delocalization enhanced according to increment of π-conjugated units. In this work, we introduced two different centrosymmetric donor units into the TIIG polymer backbone to improve the interchain π-π stacking interaction. To further investigate the possible polarities of TIIG-based polymers, we fabricated OFET devices using aluminum (Al) contacts. The resulting ultra-low bandgap copolymers enhanced the coplanarity of the polymer, improved mobilities of the FETs and exhibited ambipolar transport behaviors. |
