Stimuli-sensitive polymers that change their conformation have been extensively investigated. Changes in temperature and pH, applying magnetic filed, exposing to light with a specific wavelength, and interacting with a biomolecule act as a stimuli. However, there is no report on the polymer aqueous solution that sensitively responses to oxygen. We designed fluoro substituted aromatic compound end capped poly(ethylene glycol). The polymer aqueous solution showed lower critical solution temperature (LCST) which is sensitively affected by the oxygen or carbon dioxide. |
