The development of blue-light emitting polymers has been the subject of intense research directed toward the fabrication of full color organic displays. So far, linear polyfluorenes have been mainly studied for blue-light emitting polymers. However, these linear polyfluorenes have a few problems such as formation of excimer. So, we synthesized hyperbranched polyfluorene via palladium-catalyzed suzuki coupling reaction. Characterization of the polymers including UV-vis spectroscopy, PL spectroscopy, thermal analysis and molecular weight was studied. These polymers exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents. Interestingly, these hyberbranched polymers showed much more pure blue emission than normal linear polyfluorenes in PL studies. Their synthesis and characterization will be discussed in detail. |
