A study on the suppression of proeutectoid cementite precipitation along grain boundaries in a given tyre cord steel |
초록 |
Nowadays, the trend around the world is to produce lighter wires with higher strength for long span usage in bridge and the automobile tire industry. The most common way to achieve higher strength is increase the carbon content. However, this type of hypereutectoid steels have disadvantage in toughness because the brittle phase of proeutectoid cementite precipitates along the austenite grain boundaries prior to the formation of the pearlite. In this study, dilatometric tests were carried out to find out the minimum cooling rate necessary to avoid the formation of the proeutectoid cementite. It was also used to verify the influence of the atmosphere (air, He and Vacuum) on the transformation of austenite and the precipitation of the proeutectoid cementite. |
