Important role of the membrane is hydrogen ion exchange in Vanadium Redox Flow Battery. Commonly used cation exchange membrane nafion to be kept in a stable is replaced with Na⁺. Therefore if you use it without pretreatment, ion exchange is not done correctly. In this experiment, by using hydrogen peroxide remove organic matter on the surface and by using sulfuric acid replace with H⁺. After pretreatment under the 3% hydrogen peroxide and 0.5/1/1.5/2M sulfuric acid at 80℃, measured ionic conductivity. |
