Norbornene is a cyclohexene bridged with a methylene group in the paraposition. Polynorborenes synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization(ROMP) are highly transparent. But, other properties such as thermal stability, mechanical properties and coefficient of thermal expansion are not enough to apply to microelectronic devices including flexible substrates. In this work, to increase thermal and mechanical properties and dimensional stability, silica nanoparticles with various contents were added to polynorbornene matrix. We synthesized polynorbornene via ROMP using ruthenium catalysts. Then silica nanoparticles was mixed with polymers to prepare nanocomposite films. Various properties of these nanocomposties were characterized by NMR, FT-IR spectroscopies, wide angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), etc. |
