Many researchers have done their efforts on development of bio-plastic synthesis to turn the chemical plastic polymers into biocompatible plastics, such as using biologic enzymes for manufacturing, or using eco-friendly biomass as base materials. In this regard, poly(Lactic acid) (PLA) has received much attention such in food chemistry, electronics, and car industries due to biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and biodegradability. In this research, poly(L-lactide)s (PLLA) were synthesized, composed of L-lactide via bulk or solution condensation polymerization with a series of the mixtures of metal-based and metal oxide catalysts. The effect of metal oxide as a co-catalyst to molecular weights of polymers in the condensation polymerization will be given in the meeting. |
