Ion Conduction and Mechancial Response of Epoxy-Based Solid Polymer Electrolytes for Solid-State Supercapacitors |

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are of great interest as materials in energy storage applications because of ion conducting polymers enabling good adherence to electrodes and excellent processability. The key challenge facing the development of SPEs is to achieve high mechanical performance without scarificing the requisite ionic conductivity. W prepare epoxy-based networked SPEs including ionic liquids and lithium salts. The epoxy resins are particularly attractive as polymer matrixes, due to their high mechanical performance. The selected electrolyte components are allowed to boost ionic conductivity owing to solvating the lithium cation and plasticizing the epoxy matrix. Here, we conduct an investigation of the effect of electrolyte concentration on the glass transition temperature, ionic conductivity, and mechanical properties of epox-based SPEs. |
