Revealing the evolution of microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of non-isothermally aged AA7068 aluminum alloy |
초록 |
In the present study, a 7068 alloy was prepared by a continuous casting process. After, casting the composition of the alloy was Al-7.66Zn-2.40Mg-1.96Cu-0.12Fe-0.1Zr-0.027Si-0.026Ti. The as-cast ingots were homogenized at 460 ℃ for 48 hours and then cooled in the furnace up to 300℃ followed by air cooling. The homogenized ingot was then extruded by a direct extrusion method. As-extruded alloy was solution treated at different temperatures 480 ℃ for 2 hours. T6 and T7 treatments were performed at 150 ℃ for 16 and 72 hours, respectively. Non-isothermally aging treatment was performed as heating/cooling/heating+cooling with temperature ranges from 100 to 160 ℃ at a ramp of 20 ℃/h. it was observed that the tensile strength and hardness of the alloy after non-isothermal is higher than both T6 and T7 treated alloys. TEM analysis revealed that large density of small precipitates i.e. GP zones and η’ are present in the microstructure of non-isothermally aged alloys. The corrosion resistance of the T7 alloy is superior to others. However, corrosion resistance of non-isothermally aged alloys is still better than T6 alloy. |
