Preparation and characterization of chitosan/PVA/maghemite composite microcapsules showing dual stimuli-responsive properties |

The chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) interpenetrating polymer network microcapsules were prepared in the presence of maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles by using emulsion polymerization. The chitosan/PVA/maghemite microcapsules exhibited both time-independent superparamagnetic property with good magnetic-responsive ability and pH-responsive controlled-release property due to the pH-responsive swollen/deswollen characteristics of chitosan. The shape and structural feature of the microcapsules and controlled-release property of the microcapsules were hardly varied by increasing the maghemite concentration. |
