With the popularization of mobile devices and automobile, LIB have taken a close in our life. A fire occurs as the porous membrane separating the anode and cathode is destroyed. Therefore, the separator is a very important factor determining the stability of the battery. PE separators are commercially used due to their excellent mechanical properties, but they have the disadvantages of short circuit due to lithium dendrite and severe thermal deformation. To solve this problem, we focused PI separator. The large pores of the PI separator were a disadvantage, but this was solved by coating with Si. The Si coated separator with the controlled pores showed possibility of improvement of internal shortage. Finally, using a Si-coated PI separator, it was applied to LIB to investigate its potential as a separator for LIB.
