Vinyl addition polymerization of norbornene monomers bearing carbazole derivatives such as 4,4´-bis(9-carbazolyl)-biphenyl (CBP) and 9,9´-(1,3-phenylene)bis-9H-carbazole (mCP) group using Pd(II) catalyst has been investigated to produce polynorbornenes with pendent carbazole groups. The catalytic system efficiently led to the soluble polynorbornenes which exhibit high thermal stability and amorphous nature. When the polymer was incorporated into the emissive layer as the host doped with phosphorecent emitters such as Ir(ppy)3 and FIrpic through solution process, the devices displayed high performances in terms of power efficiency and external quantum efficiency that is best among the polymeric rivals reported to date. Details of synthesis, characterization, and host properties of polymer in PhOLEDs will be presented. |
