제목 Buckling due to Residual Stress Induced by the Stress Relaxation of Deposited Layers of Metal.
초록 In this paper, we report the lateral buckling by the indirect deposition of thin metal films on polymeric nano-walls on solid substrates. These buckling phenomena is due to the compressive residual stress of metal during deposition. While the bottoms of the walls are firmly bound to the substrate the bilayer formed by the metal deposition is just like a freely standing vertical film. During the aluminum deposition, nano-walls is buckled due to the increase in surface area, because aluminum has a tendency to expand by reacting with polymer or oxygen on the interface. We employ scaling arguments to investigate the features of wrinkling patterns induced by the lateral buckling using the mathematical model considered energy cost. Our theoretical results for the dependence of wavelength and amplitude of wrinkles are in good agreement with the experimental observations.
