제목 Filtration property of PVDF nano fiber by electrospinning for Hepa filter media
초록  HEPA filter must capture a minimum of 99.97% about contaminants at 0.3 microns in size. Electrospinning is a relatively simple method to produce submicron fibers from solutions of different polymers and polymer blends. Poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVdF) was selected as a membrane material that is commonly used in developing HEPA filter media. That has a good chemical and thermal resistance. So it was chosen for the electrospinning meterial. We studied application of electrospun PVdF nanofiber webs as on HEPA filter media.
 The electrospinning process preparing for electrospun PVdF nanofiber was described in this paper. N,N-Dimethyformamide(DMF) and Acetone was used as the solvent. PVdF of 15wt% was dissolved in DMF and Acetone solvent mixture (1:2, w/w). The electrospun PVdF nanofibers by electrospinning were collected on the tubular layer at the winding drum of 540 rpm. The distance between the capillary tip and the colector was 17cm and the applied voltage was 23kV. We had controlled thickness of PVdF nanofiber web layer with electrospinning time. Morphology of the electrospun PVdF nanofiber web was observed with scanning electron microscope of JEOL 6460. Mechanical property of the electrospun nanofiber web was measured with the universal testing machine(Instron 5543). Filtration efficiency and pressure drop of the electrospun PVdF nanofiber web was measures with standard practice for evaluation of air assay media by the monodisperse dioctyl phthalate(DOP) smoke test method (ASTM D 2986-95a) .
 The electrospun PVdF nanofiber had 200 nm ~ 700 nm in diameter and the average diameter had 400 nm. Mechanical properties of the electrospun PVdF nanofiber web were shown by tensile strength at 308.14 kgf/cm2. The resulting PVdF nanofiber web had good mechanical stability. Filtration efficiency of the electrospun PVdF nanofiber web was 99.97 % ~ 99.99 % at contaminants in 0.3 microns size with 200 ~270 micrometers thickness of PVdF nano fiber.  At that time, pressure drop was 28 mmAq ~ 48mmAq.
