All silica DDR zeolites has very suitable pore size for separating CO2 from N2. Although all silica DDR zeolites are appropriate for CO2 separators, synthesizing mono-dispersed DDR zeolites were not highly challenging. In this study, we discovered seeded growth of irregular Si-DDR particles acquired by non-seeded growth, and as a result, mono-dispersed diamond-like Si-DDR particles were obtained. Adsorption isotherms of CO2, N2, and H2O in Si-DDR particles and the resulting heats of adsorption were as good as literature data. The ideal CO2/N2 sorption and permeation selectivities were evaluated to be ~15.3-18.0 and ~7.7-9.0 at 303 K, respectively. And these results support that Si-DDR zeolites have potential as adsorbents and membranes for CO2/N2 separations. Moreover, the adsorption of H2O relies on the amounts of defects and Al atoms included into the DDR framework. |
