Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) based on conjugated polymers are gaining attention due to their potential in solution processability and flexibility by using plastic substrate. For high mobility ambipolar OTFTs, conjugated polymers should have planar structures which allow delocalization of the π-electron system. Also, such planar structures can improve crystallinity of the polymer chains which leads to enhance charge carrier transportation. Due to rigid and coplanar fused rings, thiazolothizole(TTz) unit shows extended π-electron system and strong π-π stacking. Thienylenevinylene(TV) also has good planarity and an extended π-conjugation because of the presence of a vienylene spacer between two thiophene uints. In this presentation, we synthesized TTz-TV copolymer and other two comparable materials to check the variation of the planarity in polymer structures and characterized all three polymers by measuring their properties and device performance. |
