From its high mechanical property and chemical resistance, crosslinked sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) has been widely studied for applications in electrochemical devices such as fuel cells and ionic polymer actuators. In spite of these advantages, crosslinked SPEEK exhibit damage of the electrode during actuation which deteorates its actuation capability. To overcome this problem, platinum powder-based electrode modification via simple casting method were performed, followed by impregnation-reduction process, to enhance the electrode adhesion onto the membrane. The IPMC from the modified crosslinked SPEEK exhibits stable performance with repeated actuation cycle compared to unmodified samples. |
