Bi2Te3/PEDOT:PSS composite is one of the most popular materials due to the highest TE performance at the room temperature. However, previously studied Bi2Te3/PEDOT:PSS composite are known to possess limitation about power factor (PF=σα2) due to inversely coupling between electrical conductivity(σ) and Seebeck coefficient(α). In order to increase PF of composit, σ and α are needed to increase simultaneously. The σ can be improved by generating additional carriers that increase the carrier concentration, while α can be improved through energy filtering that blocks low energy electrons and increases heat transfer by high energy electrons. We suggest a new strategy to enhancement of PF through irradiating gamma ray and protons of various energies in Bi2Te3. Irradiation induces point defects that act as donors and electron energy filters, whereby the mentioned methods can be performed simultaneously. We could achieve the improved PF up to 227 μWm-1K-2 via the proton irradiation. |
