제목 New Concept of Organic Field-Effect Transistors with Liquid Crystal Layers
초록 Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) have been widely studied due to their potentials for low-temperature and low-cost fabrications through roll-to-roll processes using flexible plastic film substrates. Most studies to date have been concentrated on the improvement of charge carrier mobility which is relatively poor compared to conventional inorganic field-effect transistors. However, such researches have employed a well-known typical device structure so that the idea has been limited to the modification of interfaces and the synthesis of organic semiconducting materials. Recently, we have tried to invent new concept of OFETs with the liquid crystals, as a gate insulator, which can induce a large amount of charge carriers in organic semiconductor layers. This presentation will show the design concept for the new device and discuss the operating mechanism in the viewpoint of chemical and physical properties.
