Sensitive and Selective Detection of Waterborne Pathogens by Using Plasmonic Mirror |
초록 |
Due to the significance of the fast identification of waterborne pathogens, several methods such as nanostructure-based optical detection have been developed to overcome conventional selective culture methods which suffer from slow detection time and low sensitivity. However, such methods are only capable of analyzing small sample volume, reducing the reliability of the technique. Here, we propose a design where bacteria covered with gold nanoparticles are located on nanopores. Through hydrodynamic trapping, bacteria are preconcentrated from large sample volume and the nanopores at which bacteria are located induce strong near-field enhancement due to constructive interference, enabling rapid and sensitive detection of bacteria. Hydrodynamic trapping and near-field enhancement are investigated via fluid dynamics and electromagnetic simulation, respectively. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy is measured for the detection of bacteria. |
