In this work, we prepared PE-base compound by melt mixing. The effect of blend ratio, crystallinity of the blend and halogen free flame retardant on mechanical, thermal properties, heat deformation and flame properties were investigated. Increasing crystallinity of PE-base compound resulted in an increase in the mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength and tear strength. On the other hand, the heat deformation of the blends decreased with increase in crystallinity of PE-base compound. The crystallization studies on PE-base compound was performed with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The effect of halogen free flame retardant on flammability, smoke emission and toxicity index was also investigated. |
