Bio-inspired Nanostructures in Photoconversion Devices Ji-Hyun Jang School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Low Dimensional Carbon Materials Center, UNIST, Korea We investigated the effects of the introduction of a bio-inspired light-guiding structure on the overall performance in solar energy conversion devices. High index-contrast metal oxides were fabricated through the use of the two-dimensional periodic structures prepared by interference lithography for maximized photon trapping effects in the visible region of light. Compared with a conventional device, the hybrid nanostructure demonstrated higher and wider absorption bands of wavelength spectrums, leading to an increased photoconversion efficiency due to enhanced light trapping effects. |
