Electrochemical performance of NiO doped LiFePO4•/C cathode materials prepared from amorphous FePO4•xH2O |

LiFePO4/C composites are prepared from amorphous FePO4•xH2O and modified by NiO (0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.04 mole) by solid state reaction process using a spex milling system. The crystalline structure and morphology of the synthesized powders have been characterized by XRD and SEM. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate a complete solid solution for all the NiO doped LiFePO4/C composites. The SEM images show that the size of particles is distributed in the range of 200-300 nm. Electrochemical performances are evaluated by impedance measurements and galvanostatic charge/discharge tests. The initial properties and impedance measurement revealed individually different improvements for different amount of NiO doping in LiFePO4/C. A maximum capacity of 158.8 mAh/g at 0.1 C was achieved at 0.01 mole NiO doped LiFePO4/C. The present work revealed that, the newly processed and small amount of NiO doped LiFePO4/C composite could be promising cathode material for lithium-ion battery. |
