제목 | Recovery of lithium (Li) from brine, seawater and wastewater by Li ion sieves (LIS) |
초록 | Nowadays, recovery of lithium (Li) gains great attention due to increasing demand for large scale lithium ion battery (LIB) in electric vehicle industry. One of the representative Li resources is Li containing liquids such as brine, seawater and wastewater. In this resources, not only Li, but also other metal ions are co-existing. The selective adsorption technique is effective way to recover high purity Li compounds from these liquid resources. Lithium ion sieve (LIS) type adsorbents are most promising material for Li recovery due to its high selectivity towards Li. This talk will be focused on introducing LIS type adsorbents such as hydrogen titanium oxide (HTO) and hydrogen manganese oxide (HMO). Also it is demonstrated that the Li extraction from seawater using HMO/Al2O3 composite as a case study. HMO is an ion sieve type of adsorbent in which the manganese oxide framework provides a three-dimensional interstitial space for selective transport of Li ions. For the separation of Li from liquid resources effectively, HMO is granulated with γ-Al2O3 as binding material. The HMO/Al2O3 composite exhibits outstanding selectivity toward Li thereby recover pure Li from complex metrics medium like seawater. The highly porous γ-Al2O3 binding material does not inhibit diffusion of seawater into HMO which enables to effectively recover Li despite of low Li concentration. |
