제목 Synthesis and Surface Activity of Poly(vinyl alcohol-b-styrene)
초록 The syntheses of amphiphilic block copolymers are important, because it self-organize at surface and in solution and, in doing so, modify to a great extent interfacial properties and enhance dramatically compatibility or partitioning. In this study, poly(vinyl alcohol-b-styrene) (poly(VA-b-St)) diblock copolymer was synthesized by the saponification of poly(vinyl acetate-b-styrene) (poly(VAc-b-St)). For the block copolymer, poly(vinyl acetate)(PVAc) with trichloromethyl end group was obtained via telomerization of vinyl acetate with caborn tetrachloride as a chain transfer agent and azobis(isobutyronitrile)(AIBN) as a initiator. Then resulting PVAc with trichloromethyl end group was used as an efficient macroinitiator for the synthesis of poly(VAc-b-St) using atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) in the presence of CuCl/2,2'-bipyridine at 130℃. Subsequently, the air-liquid surface activity of poly(VA-b-St) block copolymer solution was investigated to determine the effects of polymer concentration, polymer molecular weight, etc.
