제목 | conjugation of antibacterial to biodegradable polyester for new drug delivery |
초록 | Bacterial infections in various medical devices have brought to many approaches such as the incoporation of the antibacterial based on conjugation or diffusion-limited system. This study is based on a novel biodegradable polyester to release fluoroquinolone in response to inflammatory related enzymes as well as polymer degradation rate. The antibacterial polymer was prepared by the carboxylation between the drug, nalidixic acid and the polymer, poly(caprolactone) diol oligomer. The drug polymer was characterized by elemental analysis and MS. The biodegradation of the drug polymer and the release of the antibiotic with solution of pH 7.4 were assessed by UV, HPLC and negative MS. Subsequently, the activity of the released antibiotic was assessed against a clinical isolate of E. Coli and so on. The drug polymer was synthesized successfully and the drug-polymer released nalidixic acid and nalidixic acid oligomer beyond 20% for 7 days. The released drug and drug derivatives was working in antimicrobial culture similar to pure drug. The drug polymer shows antibiotic property as a bioresponsive and biodegradable antibiotic delivery devices |
