Synthesis of Fluorene-Siloxane Cooligomer |

Recently, well-defined monodisperse oligofluorenes have attracted interest for their potential applications in various optoelectronic devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic thin film transistors (OTFTs). However oligofluorenes have low molecular weights, so that they are not suitable for wet processing such as spin-coating and ink-jet printing. In order to increase the molecular weights for wet processing technique, the two tri-oligofluorenes with 2-ethylhexyl side branches were linked to octamethyltetrasiloxane. We synthesized mono functionalized tri-oligofluorene with 2-ethylhexyl side branches by the Suzuki coupling reaction. And these were attached to siloxane moiety by the hydrosilylation. Optical properties for this twin fluorene-siloxane cooligomer were characterized using UV/VIS absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy and its thermal properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). |
