The adsorption capacity depends on the physical structure of the adsorbate and pH of solution. Single-species(2, 4-dinitrophenol) isotherm data were correlated by a well-known Langmuir, Freundlich and Sips equation. The Sips isotherm was suitable for single-species adsorption systems in terms of pH. And, adsorption amounts of 2, 4-dinitrophenol on activated carbon decreased with increasing pH of solution. The mass transfer rate of 2, 4-dinitrophenol into the activated carbon in a batch reactor was controlled by film mass transfer resistance. |
