p-Type Organic Thin Film Transistors Based on Biphenyl and Fluorene End-Capped Fused Bithiophenes |

To date, various organic semiconducting oligomers have been investigated as p-type active layers for the application of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). Among them, oligothiophenes have been most actively studied because they show better packing properties in thin films in terms of a variety of intra and intermolecular interactions, which are related to the large polarity of the thiophene ring. However, most oligothiophenes are easily oxidized due to their relatively small band-gap and high highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) levels. In this presentation, we will introduce on high performance and stable novel p-type active materials for OFETs based on a structural combination of fused bithiophene with fluorene or biphenyl unit. A higher field-effect mobility and device stability after UV irradiation was achieved with biphenyl end-capped fused bithiophene (BPTT) than the fluorene end-capped derivative (BFTT). |
