Heparin is a naturally-occurring, highly-sulfated polysaccharide, characterized by a wide molecular weight range and powerful anticoagulant proprties. In this study, we prepared the multi-conjugated heparin(MH) using various coupling agents. Polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether and poly(propylene glycol) diglycidyl ether were used as coupling agents. The multi-conjugated heparin were dispersed to polyurethane(PU) and stainless steel was coated with the PU/MH solution by dip-coating. The release test of MH was carried in the PBS solution for 28 days at 37℃. The MH on the stainless steel was remained for 28 days. We expect this simple coating method of heparin could be applied to surface modification of biomaterials.
