One of the challenges for nanowires in various applications is to develop efficient strategies assembling nanoscale building blocks into hierarchical nano- and microstructured arrays. This talk will present controlled assembly of nanowires or nanoribbons into vertical or parallel arrays for applications in functional surfaces, sensors, and transistors. We exploited as-grown, vertical nanowire arrays as a nanofibrillar platform for application in biomimetic adhesive surfaces. For parallel nanowire arrays, we adopted contact printing method to transfer as-grown nanowires on different surfaces for the parallel arrays of semiconducting nanowires in application of pressure-sensitive electronic skins. In addition, we have successfully demonstrated the heterogeneous assembly of III-V compound semiconductor nanoribbons on Si/SiO2 substrates via epitaxial transfer method for the fabrication of high-performance, low-power transistors. |
