Micropatterning of counter electrodes for efficient light harvesting of dye-sensitized solar cells |

A facile process to produce high order diffraction grating micropatterning structure using commercially available TiO2 paste and poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) stamps on the nonconducting side of the counter electrodes are presented. We present the effects of introducing this counter electrode into solid state dye sensitized solar cells (ssDSSCs) for maximizing light harvesting properties. When incorporated into ssDSSCs that are used in conjunction with a solid state electrolyte, the energy conversion efficiency of this ssDSSCs approaches 5.0 %. This enhancement is attributed to enhanced light harvesting has been confirmed by UV/Vis spectroscopy, incident photon-to-electron conversion efficiency, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. |
