MCM-41 is well known as mesoporous silica nanoparticles having several advantages such as large surface areas, large pore volume, tunable pore sizes, good biocompatibility and the ease of surface fictionalization, of these materials make them suitable for drug carriers. Therefore, mesoporous silica nanoparticles are considered to be attractive materials for the application of drug delivery systems. And also, pH-responsive activation represents a very convenient method to offer specific control. In this work, we have investigated the synthesis and characterization of adenine modified chitosan. The modified chitosan was used as gate keeper for MCM-41 through urea functionalization using triethoxypropylsilyl isocyanate. By considering the property of modified chitosan, it is possible to be used as pH responsive drug delivery system for targeted drug delivery applications. |
