Two titania photocatalyst supported on glass fiber (GF) were prepared using anatase-type crystalline P25 powder and dilute titanium isoporpoxide solution (DTS) in ethanol. Although a large amount of titania was stably impregnated on glass fiber on the DTS/GF catalyst, low-temperature calcinations brought about a partial reduction of titanium atoms and heavy deposit of carbonaceous materials. Both the catalysts were active in the photocatalytic degradation, while deactivation by the accumulation of reactant and carbonaceous material was observed. Hydrogen peroxide regenerated completely deactivated P25/GF catalyst by removing contaminants, but enhanced the activity of the used DTS/GF catalyst better than the fresh one by increasing the surface concentration of active oxidizing species as well as removing carbonaceous materials. |
