Synthesis and Characterization of Linear-Hyperbranched Block Copolymers: Polystyrene-block-poly(2-((2-bromopropionyl)oxy)ethyl acrylate) (PS-b-PBPEA) |

We synthesized a novel linear-hyperbranched block copolymer, polystyrene-block-poly(2-((2-bromopropionyl)oxy)ethyl acrylate) (PS-b-PBPEA), by the combination of self-condensing vinyl polymerization (SCVP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Sequential ATRPs were performed to synthesize PS macroinitiator, and PS-b-PBPEA by block copolymerization from PS macroinitiator. The resulting PS macroinitiator, and PS-b-PBPEAs were characterized by NMR, GPC, XRF, and thermal analyses. Also the polymer thin films were investigated by AFM and contact angle measurement. |
