UPNSs were successfully synthesized by an OCSP process using an SDSn organic crystal as a soft template. Even though conducting polymers generally have intrinsic colors, UPNS CE had high transparency which is attributed to its nanoscale thickness. Post-doping treatment with HCl vapor increased conductivity to 39 S/cm, 26% greater than that of untreated UPNS electrodes (31 S/cm). The overall power conversion efficiency of the HCl treated UPNS DSSCs was 6.8%, which is comparable to that of Pt-based DSSCs (7.8%). Diminishing bulk particles during polymer synthesis, and optimizing the coating method and electrolyte composition can further facilitate the charge transfer at CE electrode, thus improving DSSC performance. The relatively high conversion efficiencies obtained with the HCl treated UPNSs show that this low-cost material can be used in mass production applications. |
