Liquid Crystalline Molecule of Bent-core type with Carbazole and Acryloyl Derivative: Synthesis and Physical Properties |

It has been known that achiral banana-shaped(bent-core) molecules may form polar smectic layers with ferroelectric or antiferroelectric behavior. Bent-core liquid crystals occupy one of the most exciting areas of research in both mesogenic materials nad supramolcular chemistry. In this study, we synthesized the novel bent-core molecule based on carbazole and acryloyl derivatives. We introduced 3,6-carbazole derivative to form bent-core and acryloyl derivative to form epoxy derivatives which can then be photopolymerized to yield crosslinked networks. Bent-core molecule was investigated physical and optical properties. |
