Non-catalyst Polymerization of Ethynylpyridines Using Alkyl Bromides with Different Chain Length |

Conjugated polymers are especially attractive for electric and opto-electronic applications because of electrical conductivity, fast and high nonlinear optical responses, inherent synthetic flexibility, chemical reactivity and complex formation ability, ease of processing into ultrathin films. A new family of ionic functional polyacetylenes has been synthesized via the non-catalyst polymerization of ethynylpyridines, especially ethynylpyridine. Here, we prepared various ionic polyacetylene with different alkyl chains via the non-catalyst polymerization of ethynylpyridines. The resulting polymers were completely soluble in such organic solvents as DMF, NMP, and DMSO, etc. The electro-optical and electrochemical properties were measured and discussed. |
