The pendant groups in polyacetylene can add to the functional properties of conjugated polymers. The progress of various potential polymerization catalysts enabled the synthesis of a wide variety of conjugated polymers from monosubstituted and disubstituted acetylenes, and dipropargyl derivatives. Here, the polymerization of Ethynylfluorobenzenes, a similar derivative of phenylacetylene, was performed by W- and Mo-based catalysts. The electro-optical properties of the resulting polymers were measured and discussed. The cyclic voltamograms of polymers exhibited reversible electrochemical behaviors between the doped and undoped peaks. |
