Using anionic polymerization technique several amphiphilic homo and block copolymers were designed, synthesized, and their nanostructure in selective solvent were characterized. The amphiphilic homopolymer such as poly(2-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine), poly(3-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine), poly(4-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine) formed micelles/vesicles as like block copolymer. The coil-coil block copolymer, PS-b-P2VP, and poly(2-vinylpyridine-block-2-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine) (P2VP-b-PVPPy) formed fascinating morphologies and act as template for metal nanoparticles formation. On the other hand, rod-coil type di- and tri-block copolymers, PHIC/P2VP, self-assembled into various nanostructures with extra ordinary packing depending upon solvent composition and molecular weight. Especially, well-defined polyisocyanates bearing reactive side group were also investigated in order to extend the range of functionalities. These polymers could be utilized for further modification reactions. |
