The surface-grafting of poly (γ-benzyl α, L-glutamate) (PBLG) on Si wafer was investigated to study the liquid crystalline property of rod-like polymer. The surface-grafting of PBLG from 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APS) pretreated silicon wafer was performed. The PBLG was patterned by the micro contact printing (µCP) and the vacuum ultraviolet exposing (VUV exposing) method. Microlines whose width range from 1µm to 25µm were fabricated, and the polymer and the hydroxylated Si region were analyzed by Raman spectroscopy, SEM, and AFM. PBLG patterns fabricated by two methods show different line clarity and edge effect. PBLG by µCP has clean line shape and large edge effect compared with PBLG by VUV exposing which has dirt line shape and small edge effect. α-helix structure of PBLG turned to β-sheet according to decreasing temperature, which was confirmed by IR spectrum of amide I and II band shift. |
